INSTALLING MOHAWK REVWOOD FLOORING
Installing Mohawk RevWood laminate flooring can be a rewarding DIY project, especially with its user-friendly Uniclic® locking system.
Preparation:
- You'll need a measuring tape, utility knife, tapping block, pull bar, spacer wedges, underlayment (if needed), safety glasses, and, of course, your RevWood planks. Ensure you have enough planks to cover your space with 10% extra for waste.
- The subfloor must be clean, level, dry, and free of debris. Check for unevenness exceeding 3/16" per 10 feet. Address any dips or bumps with leveling compound.
- Let the unopened RevWood planks acclimate to the room temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours before installation.
- Decide on your desired installation pattern (e.g., brick, staggered) and create a layout plan to minimize waste and ensure a smooth workflow.
Installation:
- Install the Underlayment: Put down the underlayment as instructed by the manufacturer if it is needed for your RevWood collection or subfloor.
- Start at the Longest Wall: Place spacer wedges along the wall, leaving an expansion gap of 3/8". Begin assembling the first row by clicking the short ends of planks together using the Uniclic® system.
- Continue the First Row: Measure and cut the last plank in the first row to fit snugly against the wall with the expansion gap. Use the tapping block and pull bar to ensure secure connections.
- Start the Second Row: Cut the first plank in the second row to a different length than the last plank in the first row to create a staggered pattern (unless using a different layout). Continue clicking planks together, ensuring proper alignment and tight connections.
- Connect Around Obstacles: Use the tapping block and pull bar to maneuver planks around door frames and other obstacles. You may need to cut planks to fit precisely.
- Install the Last Row: Measure and cut the planks in the last row to fit snugly with the expansion gap. Use the tapping block and pull bar for secure connections.
- Install Moldings and Trim: Once the flooring is complete, install transition strips, quarter rounds, or other moldings as needed to finish the edges and doorways.

- Carefully remove the spacer wedges from around the perimeter.
- Use a damp mop and manufacturer-approved cleaning products to remove any dust or debris.
